CASUAL SERVERS

Polish speaking applicants preferred for this role.

Casual Position: Evenings and Weekends, Late Nights | 6-12 shifts per Year | 3-5 People Required | 15 is the minimum age to be considered

The Polish Hall is looking for Banquet Servers

We are looking for smooth, fast-moving, sure-footed people to help feed 50-500 hungry people! If you’re just starting out, enjoy serving others, and need a little extra income on evenings and weekends – this might be a job for you. We will train you how to serve effectively, efficiently, and with effortless hospitality.

Reporting to the Head Cook and Floor Supervisor, this casual position is responsible for assisting our Kitchen staff by moving quickly to ensure that guest meals are delivered hot and ready in a timely manner – remembering that we don’t just serve tables – we serve people.

On site early, you ensure along with the kitchen that every guest has the flawless place setting that they need to enjoy the meal. After you wash your hands and check that your appearance is spectacular – adhering to our easy dress code and safety guidelines – you will find out which tables will be yours for the evening, and dedicate yourself to serving them with the utmost hospitality.  Beginning your guest’s table experience by pleasantly and courteously greeting your tables, you will provide efficient and timely service during their dining experience. When guests have questions or requests, you’ll be kind and quick to deliver – ensuring that any of our patrons with dietary restrictions are treated with special grace. During this time, you’ll be communicating with the kitchen to ensure that you have the food you need to deliver to your tables via a rolling cart. You will ensure that every guest has enough food from our family-style service, asking after each table to ensure that everyone’s needs are met. Coffee, tea, and dessert are available as the meal draws to a close, and you’ll deliver these carefully, being mindful of your safety and the safety of your guests when you deal with hot beverages. Once the meal is over, quietly bussing tables at an appropriate time according to your supervisor’s instructions and assisting with the dishwashing will help bring your time to a close.

Some of our servers may serve in Syrenka, our restaurant, for Sunday Brunch Buffet or other meals. For those servers, they may need to be able to fill out a guest receipt, and use a Point of Sale card machine.

First Line Servers are our first choice for events, and Second Line servers are called in for larger events according to our needs. We have the capacity to run up to four rooms simultaneously here, so we could have many servers in at a time during busy seasons such as Christmas. You will be made aware whether your offer is First or Second Line if you are offered a position with us.

A trained, skilled banquet server plays a crucial role in creating a positive and memorable experience for all guests – and we hope that inspires you to want to join us.

Serving Polonia Through Diversity

As a non-profit organization serving the Polish Canadian community, it is part of our mandate to keep Polish culture and community alive in Edmonton. As such, when qualified candidates who are bilingual in Polish and English are available, we do prioritize them over candidates without the ability to speak Polish or who do not have Polish heritage. As many of our community members speak Polish as a first language, serving our community and keeping our heritage alive in our language is deeply important to our non-profit mission.

However, applicants from Polonia are not always available and we have individuals of varying backgrounds on our staff. We encourage any experienced and qualified applicants to consider applying for work at the Polish Hall.

Candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our organization are welcomed into our community. We believe that a diverse workplace is essential to our success and represents the diversity of the Alberta community we serve. Treating all people with respect and dignity is integral to our values and to true hospitality.
